Institute proposed Infrastructure development – Library, Publication,

Mr.Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Hon’ble Minister for State Commerce &

First Patent application was submitted by IIP for the development of
Coir based Composite Board jointly with Coir Board, Govt. of India.

Modern Testing Equipments like Multi-layer thickness Tester, Digital
micro processing tester, gloss meter, Hot tack & seal tester, Xenon Inc.
weather-o-meter, Hydraulic pressure tester, leakage tester, bursting strength
tester was installed at IIP Laboratories in 2003.
·
IIP Alumni Association was framed with slogan "Prosperity through
Sharing and Leadership in the Industry for better Packaging Solution to improve
Life”.
·
1st Interactive Meeting with Industrialists was held on
8th July, 2003 at Federation of Andhra Pradesh, Chamber of
Commerce, Hyderabad.
2004 - 2005
·
Paper and Paperboard Directory was completed and printed

INDIAPACK 2004 International Packaging Exhibition was organized and held
at BKC complex 26th – 29th October, 2004.

World Packaging Conference was held in Mumbai Renaissance Hotel
·
4 weeks in-house Train the Trainers Programme for Asian Countries
participants was held for Trainers from Sri Lanka, Thailand, Indonesia,
Bangladesh, Singapore and Philippines.

12 Short Term Executive Development Programme were held.
·
ITC Training Programme was organized for foreign participants from
Bangladesh, Africa and Germany.

Packaging specification booklet for export of Walnut Kernels, Pre cut
frozen fruits, vegetables, strawberries, cherries, lychees, fresh vegetables,
apples, pineapples, chikoo, papaya and pomegranate.
2005 - 2006
·
Indian delegation led by Mr.A.A.Joshi visited Interpack on 25th April,2005
·
With active support of Andhra Industry Hyderabad centre Phase I was
inaugurated by Hon’ble Dr.Rajasekhar Reddy, Chief Minister A.P. on 24th March,2006.
2006 – 2007
·
Asian Packaging Corporation was inaugurated by Shri Subodh Kant Sahay,
Hon’ble Minister of State for Food processing Industries, Govt. of India at
Hotel Leela.

INDIAPACK 2006 International Packaging Exhibition was organized during
11th – 14th Dec.2006 at NSC Ground, Bombay.

Development of Standards for Consumer safety pertaining to packaged
drinking water, fluorinated containers, transport safety, corrugated boxes.

FIBC testing laboratory was set up for testing of all kinds of FIBC

·
Hon’ble Chief Minister West Bengal, Shri Budhhadeb Bhattacharya
inaugurated the two week training programme for Self Help Group/Self
Employment.
·
Sophisticated Testing Equipment like WVTR, Color Specto Photometer,
water spray chamber, Co-official of fiction tester were installed at
IIP-Hyderabad.
2008 – 2009
·
A first ever live panel discussion was held with panelists from Glass,
Tinplate, Ink and Polymer Industries.
·
International Summit for Packaging Industry was held during 19th and
20th September, 2008 at the Leela Kempinski, inaugurated by
Shri G.K.Pillai, Secretary, MOC&I.
·
INDIAPACK 2008 International Packaging Exhibition was held 18th-21st September,2008
at NSC Ground, Bombay.
2009 - 2010
·
Professor N.C.Saha, Head- Laboratory Division, Indian Institute of
Packaging was appointed as a Director by the Department of Commerce, Ministry
of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India.
·
Prof. N.C.Saha took initiative to transform the Institute in terms of
upgradation of infrastructure facilities at Head Office, Mumbai and also the
branches.
·
The Institute organised for the first time a National workshop on
"Food packaging” on 10th February, 2010 at Guwahati in
association with Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Govt. of India to make
an awareness on packaging in the North East region.
2010 - 2011
·
Organised Residential Training programme on Packaging at Mumbai during
19th-28th October, 2010, sponsored by Asian
Packaging Federation.
·
The Institute took a new initiative to organise Residential Training
Programme for the upliftment of African citizens under Indo - Africa Forum
Summit of Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India and supported by
Ministry of Food processing Industries, Govt. of India. 21 African
participants from 9 countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, Botswana, Niger, Zimbawe,
Ethiopia, Madagascar, Sudan and Republic of Mali participated.
·
A WPO sponsored residential training programme on packaging under Global
packaging training education initiative was held for the first time in India
during 8th -19th June, 2010. 14 participants
from 9 countries such as Ghana, India, Latvia, Croatia, Nigeria, Sri Lanka,
South Africa and Turkey participated into this programme.
·
International Summit for Packaging Industry (ISPI) 2010 was organized
during 1st and 2nd October,2010 at Hotel
Renaissance Convention Centre, Mumbai. The summit was inaugurated by Hon’ble
Union Minister for Food Processing Industry, Govt. of India.
·
4th International Packaging Exhibition i.e., INDIAPACK
2010 was held at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goreagon, Mumbai during 24-26
November, 2011 which was inaugurated by Shri Ashok Sinha, IAS, Secretary,
Ministry of Food Processing Industry, Govt. of India.
·
Institute organized 12 National Workshops on Food Packaging in
association with Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Govt. of India, at
Agartala, Goa, Tirupati, Siliguri, Vishakhapatnam, Muzzafarpur, Imphal, Ranchi,
Aizawel, Shilong, Tejpur, and Chittoor.
2011- 2012
·
The Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony for Food Packaging Testing
Laboratory was held at IIP Delhi on 26th March, 2012. Mr.
J.K.dadoo, IAS, Joint Secretary, MoCI was present as Chief Guest to lay the
foundation stone.
·
Prof. N.C.Saha, Director visited Dar-e-salam, Tanzania as a Guest
Faculty Member during 2nd -4th August, 2011 to
deliver the lecture on packaging on the occasion of opening of Tanzanian
Institute of Packaging under World Packaging Organization.
·
Two weeks residential training programme on Packaging Technology was
held at Mumbai during 27th April to 6th May,2011.
The programme was sponsored by Ministry of Industrial Development, Government
of Sri Lanka. 20 participants attended this programme.
·
World Packaging Organization had sponsored another Two weeks residential
training programme on Packaging Principle and Systems for the benefit of
participants from WPO member countries. The Institute conducted online training
programme for the first time at IIP Mumbai in association with IOP, UK. The
programme was held during 7th– 16th September,
2011. Participants from Lebanon, Croatia, South Africa attended to this
programme.
·
The Institute organized the training programme for the 2nd batch
of African citizens in association with MoFPI, Govt. of India under Indo –
Africa Forum Summit, sponsored by Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. during 28th February
to 9th March,2012.
·
The first overseas training programme was conducted by the Institute at
Jakarta, Indonesia, during 19th to 21st July,
2011 in association with Indonesia Packaging Federation, sponsored by Asian
Packaging Federation.
·
The Institute re-launched the INDPACK-2011, 14th edition of Pac National
Packaging Exhibition which was held at Hyderabad International Convention
Center along with the National Conference on Modern Trends in Packaging of Food
and Pharmaceutical Products which was held during 24th to 26th November,
2011.
·
National Conference on "Trends and Innovation in Packaging of
Processed Food and Beverages and Health Care Products” was held on 20th and
21st February, 2012 at ITC Sonar, Kolkata.
·
National Conference on "Packaging of Farm Fresh Produce and Ethnic
Processed Food” was held on 16th March,2012 at Maniram Dewan
Trade Centre, Guwahati.
·
INDPACK 2012 the 15th edition of National
packaging exhibition was organised in association with NERAMAC which was held
at Maniram Dewan Trade Centre, Guwahati during 15th -17th March,
2012.
·
The Institute participated for the first time into the world’s largest
packaging exhibition i.e., INTERPACK at Dusseldorf, Germany as India Pavilion
during 12th – 18th May, 2011 where 10 industry
member participated into INDIAPAVILION as an exhibitor.
·
The Institute opened its R&D wing and submitted the research
proposal to MoFPI, Govt. of India for processing and packaging of Tender
Coconut Water in association with IIT, Mumbai.
·
National Workshop on Food Packaging in Association with MoFPI was held
at Indore, Solan, Madurai, Bhubaneshwar, Bangalore, Kochi, Itanagar, Dehradun,
Dimapur, Bikaner, Lucknow, Kolkata and Jammu
·
The Silver Jubilee Convocation of Post Graduate Diploma in Packaging was
organised by the Institute at Mumbai on 15th Feb, 2012. Sh.
Jyotiraditya Madhav Rao Scindia, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry,
Govt. of India was present as a Chief Guest.
·
India submitted the highest number of World Star entries i.e., 48
to WPO and achieved 32 World Star awards.
2012 - 2013
·
The Institute received a 4 are land on free of Cost from State
government of Karnataka and the foundation stone laying ceremony for the
opening of 6th branch of the Institute was held at Bangalore on
15th March, 2013 where Shri Anand Sharma, Hon’ble Union
Minister, for Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India was present as Chief
Guest.
·
5th International Packaging Exhibition INDIAPACK 2013
was held at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon, Mumbai during 28th –
31st January, 2013. Mrs. (Dr.) D.Purandeswari, Minister of
State for Commerce and Industry, Govt. of India was present as Chief Guest to
inaugurate this exhibition.
·
The Institute organised the First Buyer Seller Meet (B2B) on 28th January,
2013 which was inaugurated by Mr. Thomas Schneider, President, WPO.
·
The first Poster session was organised by the Institute during the
International Summit for Packaging Industry (ISPI) held at Mumbai coinciding
with INDIAPACK-2013. Shri Rakesh Kacker, IAS, Secretary, MoFPI, and Dr. Shiv
Shankar Mishra, Former Pro Vice Chacellor, Mahatma Gandhi
Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya, Wardha were present to open the poster
session.
·
The Institute organised 3days Residential programme on Packaging of Food
Products at Dhaka, Bangladesh during 3rd – 5th October,
2012, sponsored by Asian Packaging Federation.
·
The 3rd and 4th Residential training
programme on Packaging of fresh and processed food products under Indo-Africa
Forum Summit (IAFS) were conducted by the Institute during 18th February
to 1st March, 2013 and 11th–22nd March,
2013.
·
Prof. N.C.Saha, Director, Indian Institute of Packaging was elected as a
Secretary General of Asian Packaging Federation for a period of 4 years during
the 62nd BOA and 37th GA meeting held at Seoul,
Korea in October, 2012 and the Secretariat of APF is shifted from Thailand to
India.
2013 – 2014
·
The Institute prepared the master plan for IIP Mumbai and other centers
to upgrade the infrastructural facilities.
·
The Institute received the sanction for an amount of Rs. 70.00 crore for
the first time under 12th Five Year Plan to upgrade the
infrastructural facilities at its head office and other centers.
·
INDPACK-2014, the 16th edition
of National packaging exhibition was held at Pragati
Maidan, New Delhi during 16-18 January, 2014. Mrs. Anita Agnihotri, IAS,
Special Secretary and Financial Advisor, Ministry of Commerce & industry,
Govt. of India was the Chief Guest to inaugurate this exhibition.
·
Coinciding with INDPACK-2014, the National Conference on Consumer
Packaging – Challenges and Opportunities was held during 17th -18th January,
2014. Sh. K. Chandramouli, Chairperson, Food Safety and Standards Authority of
India (FSSAI) was the Chief Guest.
·
A taskforce committee consisting of the senior faculty members from 18
reputed institutes from India participated to the first meeting to finalise the
syllabus of B.Tech and M.Tech programme in Packaging Technology and Management
(PTM). The meeting was held during 13th & 14th July,
2013.
·
The 2nd taskforce committee consisting of the experts
from leading packaging industry met on 18th July, 2013 to
finalise the syllabus for B.Tech and M.Tech Programme.
·
Foundation stone laying ceremony for the new educational complex and
international packaging center was held on 6th January, 2014 at
IIP Mumbai. Dr. EMS Natchiappan, Hon’ble Minister of State for Commerce and
Industry, Govt. of India laid the foundation stone.
·
Dr. EMS Natchiappan, Hon’ble Minister for State for Commerce and
Industry, Govt. of India was inaugurated the Food Packaging Laboratory and new
academic block at IIP Delhi on 29th January, 2014.
·
Sh. Tarun Gogoi, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam visited the Institute
on 11th January, 2014 and interacted with the students of Post
Graduate Diploma in Packaging.
·
Mr.S.K.Ray, Chairman IIP laid the foundation stone for the expansion
project phase – II of IIP Kolkata Center for PGDP programme on 15th March,
2014.
·
12 days residential training programme was organised for a industry
group from Sri Lanka during 1st – 12th July,
2013 sponsored by Department of Industries, Govt. of Sri Lanka.
·
The 5th residential training programme under Indo-Africa
Forum summit was organised by the Institute during 10-21 February, 2014
sponsored by Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India and implemented by
Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Govt. of India. 25 participants from
Nigeria, Ghana, Lesotho, Zambia, Egypt, Tunisia, Rawanda, Ethopia, Botswana,
Zimbabwe, Burundi, Uganda participated to the programme. Dr. U.Venkateswarlu,
IAS, Joint Secretary, MoFPI, Govt. of India was the Chief Guest.

Prof. N.C.Saha, Director-IIP conducted the first board meeting of Asian
Packaging Federation at Jakarta, Indonesia held during November,
2013.
·
The Institute organised 6 National workshops on food packaging in
association with MoFPI, Govt. of India.
·
Institute conducted 4 workshops on Packaging of Handicraft items during
February, 2014 in different areas in association with Andhra Pradesh
Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd., Hyderabad.
·
National Workshop on ‘Packaging of Fresh and Processed Food Products”
for MSME of Meghalaya held on 21st March, 2014 which was
sponsored by Govt. of Meghalaya under National Mission for Food Processing
(NMFP) scheme.
·
The Institute organised National Workshop on ‘Packaging of Handicrafts’
at Ranch, Jharkhand on 28th March, 2014.
2014 – 2015
·
The Institute participated 2nd time into the world’s
largest packaging exhibition i.e., INTERPACK at Dusseldorf, Germany as India
Pavilion during 8th – 14th May, 2014 where 50
industry members participated into INDIAPAVILION as an exhibitor.
· National Conference on "Emerging Trends in Packaging” was held on 5th &
6th February, 2014 at ITC Sonar, Kolkata.
·
The 48th foundation day was celebrated by the Institute
on 14th May, 2014 at the campus of the Institute as well as at
other regional offices of the Institute.
·
Institute organized a National Conference on "Innovations in
Plastics for Packaging” held at Hotel The Leela, Mumbai on 26th April,
2014
·
Five Days residential training programme was conducted by the Institute
during 04-08 August, 2014 at the Institute sponsored by Asian Packaging
Federation.

Institute organized a National Conference on "Bulk Packaging of
Hazardous Goods for Export and the Importance of UN Certificate” held at
Hotel The Leela, Mumbai on 26th April, 2014
·
A one day demonstration-cum-training programme on "Packaging of
Rural Crafts and Food Products” for MSME held on 1st August,
2014 in association with Dept of Micro Small & Medium Enterprises and
Textiles, Govt. of West Bengal at Sarat Sadan, Howrah.
·
A one day National Conference on Food Processing and Packaging –
Investment Opportunities was organized by the Institute on 10th October,
2014 at Hotel The Ashok Lalit, Bangalore in association with Ministry of Food
Processing Industries, Govt. of India.
·
The Institute organized INDIASTAR -2014 Contest during 20th &
21st October, 2014 at Head Office of the Institute. This year
the programme has attracted 552 entries.
·
A one days National Conference on "Bulk Packaging of Hazardous
Goods for Export and Importance of UN Certificate” was organised by the
Institute at Chennai on 12th September, 2014 at ITC Sherton
Park Hotel, Chennai.
·
Two days National Summit on Packaging for Tomorrow organised by the
Institute at Hotel ITC Kakatiya during 6th & 7th November,
2014

Prof. N.C.Saha, Director-IIP conducted the second board meeting of Asian Packaging Federation
at Manila, Philippines held during December, 2014.
·
National workshops on Packaging of Fresh and Processed Foods was
organised by the Institute on 11th December, 2014 at Patna.
·
National Conference on Packaging of Ethnic Foods was organized by the
Institute at Ahmedabad on 19th January, 2015 at the Metropole
Hotel, Ahmedabad in association with Ministry of Food Processing Industries,
Govt. of India.
·
Workshops on Food Packaging was organized by IIP Delhi under National
Food Mission on 17th January, 2015.
